How to Order Embroidery or Print

EMBROIDERY AND PRINT SERVICES BY GEE

EMBROIDERY

We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality embroidered goods and garments in the UK. We achieve excellent results by using the best threads known to the industry and by using the highest quality materials. We believe that our repeat custom is directly related to our quality embroidery and excellent service. Years of experience and a critical attitude to detail have kept us ahead of the competition. Our enthusiasm to please is what drives us to produce quality results time and time again, after all your embroidery leads to our success.

At Gee Embroidery & Print our qualified staff can embroider your garments with your club emblem, badge or logo. Embroidery is carried out at our premises giving us full control over the quality or any deadlines we have to meet. For a quotation on our embroidery services, we request you submit your artwork so that we can quote on a price per garment for embroidery.

We can also offer bespoke solutions, it's not just garment embroidery that we do. We have embroidered many golf bags, baby blankets, cushions, golf towels, sports bags, horse blankets and even monogrammed curtain pelmets. Just because you don't see it on our website it doesn't mean we can't do it. If it can be embroidered chances are we have already embroidered it before. We are always looking at new techniques and fabrics to embroider and we play around with different finishes to achieve different results. So if you have an enquiry for something out of the norm, just give us a call and we will tell you instantly what we can offer.

EMBROIDERY DIGITISATION

All artwork needs to be 'digitised' before it can be embroidered. By 'digitised' we mean that the artwork needs to be converted into a file format that can be read by our embroidery machines. This basically means that the artwork file needs converting into stitches. We charge for this process as it's time consuming and has to be converted by professional digitisers. We have a flat fee of £20 for any emblem, badge or logo as long as it's no bigger than 12cm x 12cm. Larger embroidery is available but would be quoted upon sight of the artwork.

Please Note: If all you require is simple text to be embroidered then no setup fee will apply. As long as the font you require is a font which our software has built in, we can offer this type of digitisation for free. This is normally used for left breast logo's advertising a plumbing service or a persons name.

Once the digitisation fee has been paid for then you 'the customer' will never have to pay for the same logo to be converted again. Its a one off cost and we will have it on file for you to call off time and time again at no extra cost.

About our digitisation service, we believe that we use the best digitisers in the country to digitise our logo's / crests. This is a service in which we outsource, this is not carried out onsite as it's such a specialist profession. We leave it for the professionals who have been providing this service for years; while they concentrate on making the designs perfect, we concentrate on embroidering your logo's to the highest possible standard. After all, if the digitisation is no good, likewise the embroidery will be no good either. We do not hide the fact that we outsource this service and this is where the setup charge of £20 comes from. You will find that over half of the embroiderers out there will also outsource this service as it's too time consuming and highly technical to do in-house.

We sometimes get asked to embroider designs that are very intricate with small lettering and although 9 times out of 10 this is possible, there is a general rule of thumb that lettering embroidered less than 5mm in height can't successfully be achieved. In some circumstances it can but this normally relies on a fill stitch behind the lettering so that its got a good base to stitch to. We leave all these decisions to our digitisers who know what works and what doesn't. They will always offer us an alternative to achieve the highest possible results.

EMBROIDERY PRICING

Typically a left breast logo design would be charged at £3.00 embroidered, however this would all depend on how many stitches a design contains. Basically, the more stitches a design has, the more thread and time will be needed to embroider it. This is where the variations come in, a design that contains 10,000 stitches will take approximately 12-14 minutes to embroider whereas a design with 30,000 stitches can take up to 45 minutes to embroider. A typical left breast logo would be around the 10,000 stitch mark. Any designs that contain a background fill, such as a shield or circle backgorund, your design could contain between 12,000 and 30,000 stitches for a left breast design. All depending on how dense the design is.

Unfortunately, as a customer you are not going to know how many stitches your logo has, so how much will you expect to pay? It's easy, get in touch with us and fire over the logo so we can see it. Provide us with how big you would like it and where you want it embroidered and we will tell you straight away how much it will cost. We will also let you know of any technical issues the design may have and give you our professional opinion for getting the best results.

TRADE AND SCHOOL EMBROIDERY

We welcome all trade and school embroidery enquiries and for larger repeat orders we are able to offer discounts over our normal pricing. If you are a trade customer with a large enquiry then please contact us for further details. Also for larger orders and at our discretion we may waiver the digitisation setup charge.

WHAT CAN WE EMBROIDER?

We can embroider many different garments, textiles, blankets, leathers, faux leathers, wools, cottons and synthetic mixes. As long as there is enough material for the embroidery to stitch to then there should be no problem. Items such as large knitted woolen scarves with noticeable gaps between the weave would be a problem for embroidery as there would not be much for the embroidery to take a hold of. Tight weaved or finely knitted items would be no problem. We can embroider onto sleeves, pockets, left breast, right breast, jacket backs, trouser legs, cuffs, collars, gloves and even socks. If you have a special requirement then please get in touch.

HEAT PRESS PRINTING

Heat press printing is a popular alternative to embroidery. It takes over when embroidery is not an option or when embroidery would be too expensive, for instance on the rear of a jacket or polo shirt. A large embroidery design on the rear of a jacket could cost a small fortune due to the amount of time, materials and stitches it has, however heat press printing can cover that area for a lot less. It's a cost effective process that if used well can be an excellent marketing tool for your club or business not forgetting the superior qualities that heat press vinyl has. It's also very cost effective or small runs.

PRINTING SERVICES

Here at Gee Embroidery & Print we can print your team logo, sponsor and number to all your sports or uniform garments by using a heat press process. This process gives the flexibility of producing quality long lasting vinyl print that can be applied to a variety of fabrics.

Due to the nature of the vinyl only solid colours can be pressed. Gradients can not be replicated using this method. For colour sponsors or logos a maximum of 3 colours can be overlayed for best results.

We are happy to explain and guide you through the process of finding the best solution for your needs and budget. Call our sales team to discuss your requirements.

FULL COLOUR PRINTING

We are now able to offer you full colour transfer printing which can replicate gradient images or complex designs. This is still a heat press vinyl process but what is different is that we print directly to the actual vinyl before heat pressing. The printed image is then cut out using our plotter cutters and applied the same way to the garment as the normal heat press process. The Eco Solvent inks used in this process give the image long lasting results. Although the vinyl will withstand the same washing temperatures as the standard single colour vinyl we use, it is best not to wash the full colour prints above 40 degrees. This will ensure the inks in the image to stay vibrant longer just like the day you bought it.

THE PRINTING PROCESS

Heat seal printing or Heat Press Vinyl printing is the process of using vinyl material to provide a durable permanent print that gives an excellent quality matt finish with a distinctive clean edge. It is ideal for finely detailed multi-colour designs, numbers and lettering.

The heat transfer process has evolved considerably in recent years, using the right materials and ensuring the correct pressing times, a very high quality value for money product is achieved. In order to be printed on your garment, your design or artwork needs to be converted to Vector Art. Once converted, the shape of the design is cut using a computer controlled plotter / cutting machine and the excess vinyl is removed by hand. (a process known as ‘weeding’) Each garment is then placed on the heat seal press, the weeded cut design is positioned by hand in the required position and pressed using an industrial heat seal press.

For best results we recommend that no more than 3 colours are overlayed on each other. There are certain limitations with this type of printing; the smallest lettering we can get down to is 6mm in height and also fine details cannot be achieved ie. grunge designs with a lot of hit and miss flecks of detail. We recommend you submit artwork to us first so we can assess it and advise accordingly.

Gee Embroidery and Print handles this process in-house and can normally turn around garments in no time. For urgent orders we advise you speak to us first to make sure we can squeeze you in.

ARTWORK SERVICES

From time to time with our busy lifestyles and businesses to run we forget where we stored that all important logo or crest file. It's then a mad panic after sometimes spending hundreds of pounds having the logo designed in the first place, trying to remember where you had it last. It's the last thing on your mind but it's the first thing we ask for when you want print.

All is not lost with out artwork services as we regurlarly convert customers jpeg logo's back to vector format. A vector is an image that has no loss of quality, whether its thumbnail size or the size of a football pitch, it can successfully be resized with no loss of quality and always has a single sharp outline. Unlike when a jpeg gets blown up to football pitch size all you would see is a series of blocks in hundreds of different shades and you wouldn't be able to make out the image.

If you have the original designers file in .eps, .ai or .pdf then fantastic, chances are you already have the original vector file that requires no converting. If all you have is a .jpeg, .gif or even the logo on a letterhead then you will need it converting. We charge for this service, however if you only have the jpeg but know the exact font that was used and the image is easy to replicate then we may do this for free at our discretion. A charge of £10 is applicable to all logo's or crests that require converting into a vector ready for printing. We can waiver this charge depending on the size of the order and the complexity of the logo, again at our discretion.

If you are not sure about your logo or what needs doing, then we will of course look at it for free and advise accordingly. There would be no obligation to proceed upon us giving you our advice.
